Audio-Technica ATH-M20x vs Audio-Technica ATH-M30x Comparison

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x vs ATH-M30x Feature

When we look at the Audio Technica ATH M20X and M30X, we get the impression.

They are not designed to be used while on the go or for activities that demand us to move about a lot since the lack of control in these pairs is really disappointing.

They don’t have anything inbuilt into either the headset or the wire that comes with them, not even a volume control, which is common on many headphones.

Some users who plan to use them indoors with their amplifier or other equipment may not be concerned, but we still want to take them out because closed-back should be OK when used with other people..

This exclusion of control requires the use of a portable music player or a smartphone when used with the gadget in order to modify the level, which we find extremely difficult.

Furthermore, because there is no microphone on its cord, we are unable to answer any calls.

However, in terms of usability, it appears that Audio Technica intends to modify the former headphone to be more friendly for individuals who want to keep things neater and be able to take their headset when travelling to other places.

As previously stated, the M30X body can be folded, as compared to the M20X, whose ear cups cannot even be flipped to be flat for simple storing and travelling, making bringing them outdoors a difficult task; also, they lack a bag or pouch to protect the unit.

The design of the M30X has been improved to allow makes it possible to carry or store the device efficiently.

They let users to fold the cups to make them more compact, and while there is no hard case for extra protection, the headset does come with a carrying pouch.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x vs ATH-M30x Build & Design

The Audio Technica ATH M20X and M30X are undoubtedly quite similar to each other because there is very little differences in the design other than the name that states the model of these pairs.

The most noticeable difference in their appearance is the symbol, which has a silver accent surrounding it that the previous model does not have.

Another distinction is that the M20X’s ear cups may be gently turned quickly, whilst the M30X’s can be folded.

They are manufactured of plastics, but they are not light or cheap because they are extremely durable and can withstand multiple fall without being damaged.

They also have a metal frame, but when compared to their pricier models, such as the M50X, the quality appears to be worse and the overall frame is thinner.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x vs ATH-M30x Sound Quality

When considering any audio equipment, the most significant aspect will be the sound it produces, as we are here to listen to it.

Both the Audio Technica ATH M20X and M30X are extremely comparable in this regard.

They feature a 47 ohm impedance, which means they require more power to provide high audio levels, but they are shielded from harm caused by overloading.

They already provide a balanced audio for the price range in terms of quality.

Depending on what you’re already listening to or the headphones you’re using, we can absolutely increase the experience with these pairs because there are some noises we never heard before but which come to notice with either of them.

They are not, however, wonderfully fantastic or will blow our minds because, when compared to more costly units, their sound will appear ordinary and will still have some distortion as well as mediocre soundstage performance.

The Audio Technica ATH M20X and M30X are outstanding closed-back headphones and might be a fantastic alternative for individuals who don’t want to spend a lot of money on their next set.

The bass is extended, and the mid-range has outstanding imaging.
The frequency response of the earlier device ranges from 15 to 20.000 Hz, whilst the newer M30X ranges from 15 to 22.000 Hz.

In practice, both are similar since a larger range does not always imply a better sound, and treble over 20.000 is not often detectable.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x vs ATH-M30x Comfortable

The second thing we need to look for in a headphone is comfort since we want to have a pair that is comfortable enough for a lengthy music listening session without having to rush to take them off.

In this regard, the Audio Technica ATH M20X and M30X are comparable since the improvements are limited to the material and design, which have the greatest impact on comfort.

When it comes to weight, the M20X is just considerably lighter than the M30X and also little less snug.

The M20X is less compact, but the ear cups are also a little smaller, yet relatively comfortable without putting too much strain on our skulls.

The ear cups may be enough for many users, but some may feel that they are insufficient, and this is what has been improved on the M30X.

The ear cups have been modified to be larger and can accommodate more users while being light and without applying too much pressure, although the rigidity remains the same as the previous model.
